Understanding the Bonding Process
Composite resin is typically the material of choice for bonding. Resin can easily match the shade and texture of your teeth and is biocompatible with oral tissues.
First, you’ll need to come in for a one-on-one consultation with our dentist in Edmonton so we can examine your smile, discuss your preferences, and identify what needs to be addressed. Bonding can effectively fix many issues, such as:
- Minor chips and cracks
- Stains
- Small gaps between teeth
- Teeth that are too short or oddly shaped
Similar to getting porcelain veneers, we’ll apply the resin to your smile with a curing light that encourages the material to harden. After, we can manipulate the resin accordingly, trim off excess material, then polish it to a beautiful shine.
Please remember that dental bonding is not an ideal solution for patients who require more advanced treatment. Large gaps between teeth and severe fragmentation can be remedied via orthodontics, veneers, or dental crowns. Dr. Steed will talk to you about this when you attend your consultation.
